## Abstract A numerical method for simulating spinodal decomposition in ternary systems with orderโofโmagnitude differences in diffusion coefficients is presented. The method has been partially verified by molecular dynamic simulations and gives results equivalent to the standard technique when the

โฆ Synopsis
Abstraet-Experimental molecular ditfusivity data were obtained for two ternary liquid systems with a dilute solute diffusing in a very non-ideal solvent mixture and a second dilute solute in a viscous solvent mixture using the diaphragm-cell method. Using only the diffusion data of the solute in each of the two pure solvents and viscosity data of the mixtures, a modified equation was shown to predict the diffusion data over the entire solvent mixture concentration range. A modified Wilke-Chang type equation was also used.

The theoretical description of multicomponent diffusion in liquids is still at an early stage of development. The multicomponent diffusion coefficients strongly depend on the composition of the mixture. In order to calculate accurate mass transfer coefficients, extensive measurements of diffusiviti
