✦ Synopsis
The charge transfer spectra of molecular complexes of chloro substituted p-benzoquinone(4)-chlorimides with aromatic lrdonors in cyclohexane have been studied. The interaction of 2,6dichloro p-benzoquinone with the same set of donors has also been studied. The spectroscopic and thermodynamic data indicate that the complexes are very weak in nature. A comparison of the absorption intensities and formation constants for these complexes shows that the contribution of charge transfer forces are not the only dominant stabilising factors.
