Upon treatment of p-t but-tetrathiacalix [4]arene and p-t but-tetrathiatetramercaptocalix [4]arene by 1,2-dibromoethane in the presence of K 2 CO 3 two new basket-type derivatives are obtained and their structures characterised in the solid state by X-ray diffraction on single crystals.
