The anisotropy of the triplet sublevel populating rates was determined for 1 , 1 0-phenanthroline ( phen), 2,9dimethyl-1,l Ophenanthroline (2,9-Me2phen) and their zinc(H) complexes in rigid solutions and for ZnClz(2,9-Merphen) in the crystalline state at 77 K by a time-resolved EPR technique. Dark blue plate-like crystals of [Cu 2 (phen) 2 (H 2 O) 2 (OH) 2 ](HCO 3 ) 2 Β΄6 H 2 O were obtained from a CH 3 OHΒ±H 2 O solution containing CuCl 2 , 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), sebacic acid and Na 2 CO 3 . The crystal structure (triclinic, P 1 (no. 2), a = 8.118(1), b = 9.624(1), c = 10.536(1) A Γ
The crystal and molecular structures of [Mn(phen)-(OHz)C13] (1) and [Mn(acac)2(OHE)/]C104"2H20 (2) were determined. A comparison is made of the Jahn-Teller distortion in these compounds with those observed in other manganese(III) complexes with monodentate axial ligands.
