## Abstract The search tools familiar from the personal computer are propagating to mobile devices. Are users willing to type keywords with the limited keypad of an ordinary mobile phone? How does mobile search differ from stationary search? The author found that users are surprisingly willing to

β¦ Synopsis
While some libraries have begun to offer customized mobile applications for their online public access catalogs (OPACs), little research has investigated the relative costs and benefits associated with developing such applications. To investigate this tradeoff, we have developed a prototype Mobile search application for the University of Texas library catalog (MUT). Our experience indicates that mobile applications for catalog access can be built at relatively low cost and effort, with MUT providing a proofof-concept for developing similar mobile applications at other institutions. Overall, our findings suggest customized mobile applications have potential to significantly better serve patrons in return for a relatively small investment in development and maintenance.

## Abstract __Relevance__ has been a difficult concept to define, let alone measure. In this paper, a simple operational definition of relevance is proposed for a Webβbased library catalog: whether or not during a search session the user saves, prints, mails, or downloads a citation. If one of thos
An inno¨ati¨e monopole antenna with a parasitic helix mounted on the ground plane is designed for installation on mobile-phone handsets. Unlike the con¨entional monopole antenna, measurements showed that the added parasitic helix could result in a wider bandwidth for the whole antenna. The radiation
## Abstract By using the upper and lower ground planes of a folderβtype mobile phone, a novel internal shorted dipole antenna for digital television (DTV) signal reception in the 470β806βMHz band is presented. The shorted dipole antenna further comprises an internal matching circuit, which includes
## Abstract A novel small dualβresonant dielectric resonator antenna is presented. The antenna has a simple structure, wide bandwidth, and high radiation efficiency. Its radiation pattern is suitable for cellular handset antenna applications. Β© 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Let
