โฆ Synopsis
The miscibility of poly(2,6-dimethyl-l,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) with various copolymers of styrene with 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl methacrylate (S TPMA) was studied by differential scanning calorimetry, While polystyrene (PS) is miscible with PPO at all compositions, S TPMA copolymer with low TPMA content is miscible with PPO only when the weight percentage of PPO in the blend is >/40%. S TPMA copolymer containing 36% of TPMA is immiscible with PPO at all compositions.

The methyl groups of poly(2,6-dimethyl-l,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) were brominated to various extents. Bromobenzylated PPO (BrPPO) samples with degrees of bromination of 16, 37, 50, 69 and 76% were found to be miscible with polystyrene (PS) but BrPPO with a degree of bomination of 92% was immiscible
