Abstract
With a continuous jetโstirred tank reactor operating at small space time (0.05โ1.2 s) the kinetics of the formation of six minor products (ethane, isobutane, buteneโ1, 2,3โdimethylโbutane, 4โmethylpenteneโ1, and 1,5โhexadiene) are studied during the pyrolysis of propane, at small extents of reaction and over the temperature range of 600โ780ยฐC. The experimental results are in agreement with the free radical mechanism proposed by Jezequel, Baronnet, and Niclause for this reaction. They show that the two most important termination processes are

The measured rates of formation of the minor products are consistent with the quasiโidentical values estimated by Jezequel and coโworkers (between 475 and 505ยฐC) and by Allara and Edelson (between 510 and 560ยฐC) for kinetic parameters (A~1~ โ 10^16.65^ s^โ1^ and E~1~ โ 84.7 kcal/mole) of the chain initiation process

Propane pyrolysis is studied in the presence and the absence of dihydrogen between 743 and 803 K, in the propane pressure range 10-100 Torr, and at 20-254 Torr dihydrogen pressure. In unpacked Pyrex reactors, dihydrogen accelerates propane dehydrogenation and demethanation. The reaction is modeled b
The rates of gas-phase elimination reactions of N-benzoyl and N-acetyl-propanamide and N-benzoyl and N-acetyl-2-methylpropanamide are measured and discussed. They undergo unimolecular first-order elimination reactions. The reactivities of N-benzoylamides have been compared with each other and with t
