This paper presents an experimental in¨estigation into a microstrip Yagi array antenna for a possible use in a wireless LAN system. The antenna uses an aperture coupling feeding mechanism, and can be placed in a horizontal plane to communicate with the base station. Experimental results are presente

Abstract
Novel designs for compact multi‐band single feed triangular microstrip antenna are presented. Shorting wall is introduced for 50% size reduction while inserted slits are added for tri‐band operation. Triangular shorting capacitive plate is inserted to reach 75% size reduction from conventional λ~0~/2 triangular microstrip antenna. Gain greater than 8 dBi is achieved. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 49: 487–491, 2007; Published online in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com).
