✦ Synopsis

A microwa¨e microstrip probe-fed antenna with an integrated ¨oltage-controlled phase shifter is in¨estigated. The phase shifter used is a microstrip 90Њ hybrid loaded by two ¨aractor diodes, allowing a 40Њ phase shift. It is integrated on the antenna due to multilayer technology. Radiation patterns in the E-and H-planes are similar to those obtained with a simple passi¨e patch.

## Abstract In this article, an active integrated microstrip antenna combining the output power of four field‐effect transistors (FETs) is described. The radiation pattern is similar to a four‐element phased array. The antenna is fed along its nonradiating edge thereby permitting the FETs to be con
