## Abstract __Heme oxygenase‐1__ (__HO‐1__) has been demonstrated to play an important role in the regulation of signaling systems, which are involved in the control of cell cycle progression and apoptosis. Recently, a (GT)n dinucleotide repeat polymorphism in the __HO‐1__ promoter was shown to mod
