โœฆ Synopsis

The diverse e4orts to rationally construct microporous solids using porphyrins and metalloporphyrins as molecular building blocks are reviewed. Porphyrin-based molecular crystals, hydrogen-bonded networks, and metal ion coordination polymer networks are examined in detail. Recurring geometrical motifs observed in the structural frameworks of di4erent porphyrinic solids are emphasized, and the in6uences of solvates and guest molecules are explored. Attempts to construct porphyrin+ siloxane networks are also reviewed.

Porphyrins and metalloporphyrins provide an extremely versatile nanometer-sized building block for the control of materials properties. Films, solids and microporous solids have been explored as field-responsive materials (i.e. interactions with applied electric, magnetic or electromagnetic fields)
