## Abstract Polyethylene glycol 400 represents an efficient reaction medium for the cycloaddition of Ξ±,β‐unsaturated aromatic aldehydes with zwitterions derived from isocyanides and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates to give styryl‐ and chromenylfurans in good yields.
