✦ Synopsis

Phenological and climatic data in the coastal region of Israel and in the Jordan Valley, have permitted regression techniques to be used between various climatic variables and the duration of the growing season. The results obtained, show that in the Jordan Valley the date of picking grapefruit can be predicted by the beginning of May. This method of forecasting has been verified successfully during the last three growing seasons. In the coastal region, the picking date of Shamouti oranges can also be predicted, but the verification of forecast dates is yet to be made.
