## Abstract A new model of metamagnetic phase transition with temperature in Mn~3~GaC is proposed. The magnetoelastic Hamiltonian takes into account two independent strains (trigonal and isotropic ones) as functions of temperature, calculated similarly to the microscopic theory of magnetostriction.
