Abstract
The properties of gel‐type and macroporous chelating ion exchange resins are discussed in terms of resin capacity, selectivity, and the kinetics of sorption and desorption processes. The potential application of chelating ion exchange to metal winning in leach liquor processes is discussed and it is concluded that the area in which the largest improvements in resin design can be made is in improved resin kinetics.

## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** Nickel is a highly toxic metal which is discharged into receiving waters by several industries, in particular, electroplating, PCB and electronics manufacturers. In the present study, a new ion exchanger has been assessed for its ability to remove nickel from solution.
In the mass spectra of several transition metal chelates with diethyldithiocarbamate as a ligand, intense peaks are present which could be assigned to extraneous metal (particularly nickel) containing ions. Using an Au-Rh coated ion source, evidence was obtained for the occurrence of exchange reacti
Polyethylenimine membranes consisting of linear polyethylenimine (PEI) and polyepichlorohydrin (PECH) were prepared by casting and heating an N,N-dimethylformamide solution of the two polymers under nitrogen at 100°C for 60 min. The membrane was also prepared by a heat-press method in a conventional
The adsorption properties of poly(acrylamidoxime) chelating resin for Cu(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Cr(III), and U(VI) are investigated by the batch technique. Based on the research results of the binding capacity effect of the pH value on sorption kinetic experiments, it is shown that thi
