Membrane replacement rates for very large reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plants using "Permasep" hollow-fine fiber aramid membranes are necessary for estimating future operating costs. This paper is a synopsis of a study that relates long-term average replacement rates, actual use of those permeators installed initially and criteria for membrane replacement to projected plant design performance, membrane life, reserve capacity and rack space. PRECIS 11 faut connaitre la fr6quence de remplacement des membranes, aux installations t&s importantes de l'osmose reverse (RO) utilisant les membranes en fibre fine-creuse d'aramid PERMASEP, pour que l'on puisse estimer les frais probables d'exploitation. Cette communication donne un r&urn& d'une ktude apparentant la frdquence de remplacement, le taux moyen de remplacement les membranes orIginales, et les criteres gouvernant le remplacement de membranes, au rendement anticipe de l'installation, a la capacite en r&serve, et aux dimensions des &tag&es. AUSZUG Urn einen Kostenvoranschlag fuer zukuenftige Betriebskosten mathen zu koennen is es notwendig, den Membranaustausch sehr grosser Unkehrosmose-Entsalzungsanlagen, welche feine Aramid Hohlfasermembrane verwenden, zu kennen. Dieser Bericht ist die Zusammenfassung einer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit, welche den langfristigen Durchschnittsaustausch, den Austausch der Original membrane und Masstaebe fuer den Membranaustausch mit der Leistung gemaess der Anlagenauslegung, der Lebensdauer der Membrane, der Ueberkapazitaet und dem Leerraum fuer Ersatzpermeatoren in Verbindung bringt.
