✦ Synopsis
In previous studies on the modification of polar he~.d groups of membrane p~ ospheiipids with the upnaParal base analog, N-isopropylethanolamine, we reported an unide~tff~d p~ospholipid in addition to phosphatidyl-N-isopropyle~anotamine in the vario~ m~mbran~ tYactions of rat liver. The structure of this phospholipkl has now been ~enfified as pho~fl~tidyl-N o methyl-N-isopropylethanolawm~e by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscJ~ y, and t~y chromatographic and e~zymic analysis. In addition, we found that when ~at; were injected intraperitoneally with the N-methyl-N-isopropytezhanotamine, 19% of :b~: 1i ,'or microsomal phospholipid was phosphafidyl-lC-methyl-N-isopropylethanotam~,e.
