The association between cholecystectomy and subsequent risk for colorectal carcinoma was investigated in a prospective cohort study on diet and cancer (n = 120,852), which is being conducted in the Netherlands from 1986 onwards among 120,852 men and women, aged 55 to 69. After a follow-up period of
