The effects of acetaminophen on the metabolism of the isolated perfused rat liver were investigated. The following results were obtained: (1) Acetaminophen increased glucose release and glycolysis from endogenous glycogen (glycogenolysis). (2) Oxygen uptake, gluconeogenesis from either pyruvate or
