✦ Synopsis
Using laser-induced fluorescence, the rate constants for deactivation of asymmetric vibrations of '3C02 in mixtures of "CO1 and '*CO2 have been determined. A 4.3 pm CO2 laser was used as the excitation source. The measured rate of deactivation in '%O, is higher than in '"CO, by a factor of 1.8. The dependence of the deactivation rate on the degree of isotopic substitution is linear, which Indicates that the role of mtermolecular exchange in deactivation is insignificant.
