Abstract
This paper describes a method of reaction time in agility using the bioelectrical impedance, which is not affected by either the measurement items or measurement site that is closer. In this study, the measurement is made for two items, the jumping reaction test and the barβgripping reaction test. Reaction time, movement time, and total time are defined based on the waveforms of the lower leg electrical impedance and the forearm electrical impedance. Results are compared to the reaction time and the total time obtained by the traditional method. The results using the proposed method almost agreed with the results of the traditional method, and it is verified that the proposed method can be used to measure the reaction time.
It should be noted that reaction time and movement time can be separated from total time for the barβgripping test; this has been impossible in the traditional method. The ability to separate types of time is of use in an experiment in alcohol drinking conditions; results of this experiment are presented. It is expected that the proposed method will be applied to various measurements in such fields as measurement of physical fitness, sport training, and rehabilitation.
