โฆ Synopsis
Sulfine and sulfine-d z have been generated by the pyrolysis of trans-l,3-dithietane 1,3-dioxide and its deuterated species, respectively, at 600 K and trapped in argon matrices at 20 K. The IR spectra of the pyrolysis products have been recorded in the 4000-250 cm-1 region at 10 K. The IR absorptions due to sulfine and sulfine-d 2 have been identified by their disappearance on subsequent irradiation of the matrices. Vibrational assignments of sulfines have been made, referring to the frequencies predicted by ab initio MO calculations. Normal coordinate analysis has been carried out for the in-plane modes of A' species.
