โฆ Synopsis
A computer model is developed to solve multi-phase, one dimensional, transient chemically reactive flow problems with large heat release.
The spatial part of the governing PDE3 is discretized by using the moving finite element method and the resulting set of ODES is integrated over time by Gear type non-linear, implicit ODE solvers. A new form of penalty function which directs node movements to equidistribute prescribed mesh functions is proposed not only to prevent the moving finite element method formulation from becoming very stiff or singular, but to also improve mesh topology.
The performance of the computer model is demonstrated by simulating both freely propagating premixed laminar flames with one step chemistry and the dynamic behavior of liquid droplet combustion with full detail chemistry.
