✦ Synopsis


Abatraet-Cathodic limiting currents were measured in an unstirred cell at inclined parallel electrodes, with angles of inclination between 30" and 150". Cathode heights varied from 10 cm to 50 cm, and electrolyte composition from 0.01 to 0.25 M CuSO, in 15 M H&IO,; limiting currents for deposition of co may %e per were between 0.23 and 37 mA/cm*. A genera1 correlation of the data of all inclinations represented by the "8 uation Nu = 0.3 (C SC G#'**, where Nu, SC and Gr are the masstransfer Nusselt, Schmidt, an Grashof numbers, respectively and C is a constant depending on the angle of inclination. The experimental range used in the correlation was 6 x lOlo < SC Gr < 7 x lots. The correlation for the results of the individual obtuse angles indicates that the boundary layer is turbulent. Der Neigungswinkel wurde zwischen 30 und 150Β°C variiert, die Kathodenhbhe zwischen 10 und 50 cm, die Elektrolytzusammensetzung zwischen 0,Ol und 0,25 in 1,5 M HISO,, Die Grenzstrome (Kupferabscheidung) variierten von 0,23 bis 37 mA/cma Die Measergebnisse kbnnen durch die verallgemeinerte Korrelation Nu = 0.3 (C SC Gr)@*** dargestellt werden, wobei Nu, SC turd Gr die Nusselt-, Schmidt-und Grashof-Zahl bedeuten; C ist eine vom Neigungswinkel abh&ngige Konstante. Der ftir die Aufstelhmg der Korrelation verwendete Bereich ist 6 x lOlo < SC Gr c 7 x lo'*. Die Korrelation fur die einzelnen stumpfen Winkel deutet darauf hin, dass die Grenzschicht turbulent ist.
