Synopsis
The free convection mass-transfer behaviour of upward-facing horizontal surfaces has been investigated experimentally using an electrochemical technique involving the measurement of limiting currents for the deposition of copper on copper electrodes from acidiied cupric sulphate solutions. The data are well correlated by the equations and Sh = 064 (SC. Gr)@ss for 3 x 10" < ScGr < 25 x 10' Sh = 0.16 (SC. Gr)@ss for 2.5 x 10' < ScGr < lo'*.
Electrode diameters varied between 0.1 and 12 cm and cupric sulphate concentrations between 0.01 and 0.3 M.
The data compare favourably with previous experimental results for the corresponding heattransfer case.

Gr)Oes8 fiir 2,5 x 10' < SC. Die Elektrodendurchmesser
