✦ Synopsis

The hydroxymethylene dication HCOH'+ IS shown to be stable in the gas phase, while the isomeric formaldehyde dication is not.The energetics of formation and decomposition of the former is determined from MIKE (mass-analyzed ion kinetic energy) experiments. The esperimental fmdings are shown to be in pleasing sgeement with results from ab initio molecule orbital ~Iculations.

A mass spectrometric study of several para-substituted benzylidenecyanoacetamides was performed; thus, electron impact, chemical ionization and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometric studies for each molecule were acquired and then compared in order to establish a general fragmentation pattern. ## Abstract It has been found by mass spectrometric studies that the so‐called ‘1:1‐adduct’ formed by N‐( __n__butyl)maleimide and benzaldazine, is in fact a solid mixture of one part __bis__‐imide L and one part benzaldazine. __Bis__‐imide L is one of the three stereoisomeric products obtained by

## Abstract Neutral hydroxymethylene HCOH is an important intermediate in several chemical reactions; however, it is difficult to observe due to its high reactivity. In this work, neutral hydroxymethylene and formaldehyde were generated by charge exchange neutralization of their respective ionic co

The diketo and ketoenol tautomers of aliphatic 1,3-diketones can be easily separated by gas chromatography. The mass spectra of tautomers of pentane-2P-diones substituted at C(1) and C(3), separated in this way, have been obtained. The fragmentation mechanisms are discussed. The mass spectra of the
