β¦ Synopsis
Magnetoconductance of a small open lateral dot is studied both theoretically and experimentally for the conditions when the dot contains down to βΌ 15 electrons. We conΓΏrm the existence of a new regime for open dots in which the transport through the structure occurs through individual eigenstates of the corresponding closed dot. In particular, at low magnetic ΓΏelds the characteristic features in the conductance are related to the underlying eigenspectrum shells. When the number of modes in the leads is reduced more detailed structures within the shells due to single eigenlevels becomes discernible. At higher ΓΏelds Landau level condensation is evident as well as the crossing of levels collapsing to the di erent Landau levels.

It has been previously demonstrated, employing charge detection techniques, that quantum cellular automata (QCA) processes exist in the vicinity of quadruple degeneracy points in both ring and serial arrangements of lateral triple quantum dots. The effect is primarily an electrostatic one. In this p
A few-electron quantum dot utilizing Schottky, metal top gates in a modulation doped Si/SiGe heterostructure was realized and nonlinear transport through the dot was studied. By carefully tuning the capacitively coupled gates, the single quantum dot was transformed into two tunnel-coupled quantum do
