β¦ Synopsis
Magnetization measurements on a single crystal, powder neutron diffraction experiments and specific heat on the hexagonal TbGa z compounds are presented. Below T N = 18.5 K, multistep metamagnetic transitions are observed when the field is applied perpendicular to the [00 1] hard magnetization axis. The H-T magnetic phase diagrams along the [10 0] and [1 2 0] directions were deduced. At any temperature below TN, the magnetic structure is described with the incommensurate propagation vector Q = (Β½, Β½, 0.189). From the neutron diffraction experiments three possible magnetic structures are deduced, among them a triangular structure modulated along c being the most likely.

Magnetic phase diagram of NdRuzSi 2 has been constructed by measurements of magnetization and neutron diffraction in magnetic fields using a single crystal. Four magnetic phases appear below T N = 23 K: (1) an antiferromagnetic phase with the wave vector k~ = [0.13, 0.13, 0] for 23 K > T > 8 K at lo
