β¦ Synopsis
Magnetic phase diagram of NdRuzSi 2 has been constructed by measurements of magnetization and neutron diffraction in magnetic fields using a single crystal. Four magnetic phases appear below T N = 23 K: (1) an antiferromagnetic phase with the wave vector k~ = [0.13, 0.13, 0] for 23 K > T > 8 K at low fields, (2) a ferrimagnetic phase with k, and k 2 = [0.26, 0, 0] having about a half saturation moment for 23 K > T > 16 K around 0.55-0.8 T, (3) a ferrimagnetic phase with k, having a small ferromagnetic component for T < 8 K at very low fields, (4) a forced ferromagnetic phase at a high field for all temperatures.

Magnetization measurements on a single crystal, powder neutron diffraction experiments and specific heat on the hexagonal TbGa z compounds are presented. Below T N = 18.5 K, multistep metamagnetic transitions are observed when the field is applied perpendicular to the [00 1] hard magnetization axis.
