Low-temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy on the highly overdoped La 1.78 Sr 0.22 CuO 4 (T c = 27 K) single crystal reveals gap inhomogeneity at 4.2 K. The energy gap D observed in the tunneling spectra distributes around 7 meV: it ranges from 4 to 20 meV. The spectra with smaller D (4-10 meV)
Raman scattering measurements in zero and non-zero magnetic fields up to 14 T have been performed on a La 2Àx Sr x CuO 4 single crystal with x $ 1=8. A substantial field-induced enhancement of the electronic Raman intensity is observed, especially in the high frequency region around 2000 cm À1 .
Inelastic neutron scattering (INS) of La, \SrICuO , h (x = 0.0. 0. 1. (1.2. 0.3) at temperatures: 290 K, X0 K and 10 K are reported. A magnetic excitation at about 6 meV has been detected in the INS spectra at 80 K and 10 K. This peculiarity varies with both temperature and strontium concentration,
