Hydrothermal reaction of Cd(NO 3 ) 2 โ€ข4H 2 O with bbp and p-PDOAH 2 at 140 โ„ƒ yielded a novel 1D cadmium(II) coordination polymer, [Cd(bbp)(p-PDOA)] n (bbp๏ผ2,6-bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine, p-PDOA๏ผp-phenylenedioxydiacetate dianion), in which CdN 3 O 4 pentagonal bipyramids were linked by p-PDOA lig
