Tbe absorpkm specu-q emission spectra. and emission likrimes of Pr(Phpy),. Pt(Thpy),. and F%(Bhq), complexes (Phpy-. Thpy-. and Bhq-are the onho C-deprotonated forms of 2-phenylpyridine, 2-(2&ienyl)-pyridine, and benzo(h)quinoline) have been studied and compared with those ol the C-protonated neulral ligands. For all complexes examined the low-energy absorption bands in Ihe near IJV and visible region are assigned to metal-tc4igand charge-transkr transitions. The srrong and structured luminescence emissions observed in the 500-600 nm region (lifetime in the microsecond range a[ 77 K) are assigned LO metal-lo-ligand charge-transfer excited soaks.
