✦ Synopsis


The synthesis of alkali substituted lanthanum copper oxide La2_xMxCuO4 (M=Na, K, Rb, Cs) by the low temperature hydroxide melt technique is described. The alkali stoichiometry x turned out to be dependent upon the reaction temperature. Superconducting phases appear in the Na and K substituted compounds with a maximum Tc of 31 and 41 K, respectively

The diamagnetism of superconductivity and the resistivity were measured on (Lal\_xBax)2Cu04 under pressures up to 20 kbar. It was confirmed that the superconducting transition temperature T¢ is markedly restored as the resistive increment associated with the phase transition to a lowtemperature tet
