✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this article, the measurement results of the dielectric resonator antenna with high‐permittivity have been presented. With this technique, a 5.4% bandwidth (return loss < −10 dB) of center frequency at about 3.5 GHz for application in WiMAX has successfully been achieved. The copolarization radiation is strongest at θ ≅ 5° from the broadside in the E‐plane. The cross‐polarized patterns are about 10 dB less than the copolarized patters in the broadside direction. The antenna has a 3 dB beam angle of about 80°. Peak antenna gain is about 5.96 dBi, with gain variations less than 1.0 dBi for frequencies within in the −10 dB S~11~ bandwidth. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A broadband RMSA with a pair of rectangular slots has been proposed. Its BW is further increased either by increasing the number of pairs of slots or by using a pair of bow-tie slots. The even-mode-equivalent RMSA with a pair of slots, which is a compact RMSA with a single slot, exhibits broader BW

## Abstract A novel broadband design of square‐disk dielectric resonator (DR) antennas with a very high relative permittivity of 90.5 is presented. Broadband operation is achieved by loading two narrow conducting strips of suitable lengths, which results in dual‐resonance excitation and leads to a
