Characteristics of a low-profile square-disk dielectric res-( ) onator DR antenna with a ¨ery high permitti¨ity excited by a coplanar ( ) wa¨eguide CPW are experimentally studied. The CPW is open circuited by a rectangular slot which also ser¨es a coupling slot for coupling the electromagnetic energy from the CPW to the square-disk DR. Also, it is found that, simply by placing the square disk in a suitable position on the CPW, impedance matching can easily be achie¨ed, and good radiation characteristics are also obtained. Details of the experimental results are presented and discussed.
