โœฆ Synopsis

A thresho:d electron-impact excitation spectrum is presented for ethylene. Compared with previous threshold experiments, more accurate energy-positions have ken obtained for the observed processes. The fust observation of the 3B1u fit -+ n*) excitation function is reoorted, in which a new temporary negative ion srate has been found at 5.7 ev. Assigments are suggested for the direct and resonance excitation processes.

Electron euitation ;md resonance processes have been stndied in 1,6-methanoj IO] annulene and 1.6-oxide-I 101 annulehe, naphthalene and azulene\_ The loosest triplet states hsve been loated in the annulenes. A new reson;lnce in naphthalene at 3-4 eV is also reported in this study.

Low-energy (O-5 V above threshold) electron-impact excitation spectra and a trarismission spectrum are presented for acetylene. it is found that excitation via temporary negative ions plays a domimnt role. Assignments are suggested for the observed electronic excitation processes.
