The variation of local voidage relative to a given sphere within a random assembly of packed spheres is of interest, particularly in defining local transport coefficient variations.
The variation of local voidage with distance from a reference position and the probability distribution of this voidage at any given distance are estimated using available experimental measurements of various geometric packing properties of a random assembly of equal-sized spheres.
