✦ Synopsis

A liquid chromatographic (LC) method with electrochemical detection was developed for the determination of sodium ethyhnercurithiosalicylate (tbimerosal) by ligand exchange with tetramethyleneditbiocarbamate.

This method was used to study the photodecomposition of thimerosal under several solution conditions. The results obtained were compared with those obtained by a previously reported LC assay and a standard cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometric method.
