Lipase mediated sequential kinetic resolution has been employed to give both enantiomers of hans-2,5-bis(hydroxye~yl)pyrrolidine in optically pure form. The effect of different parameters on the ec and yields in these resolutions are also reported.
Chiral (salen)Cr(III) complex 2 is an efficient catalyst for the kinetic resolution of 2,2-disubstituted epoxides. The scope and limitations of this methodology are described.
