โœฆ Synopsis

Linkage analysis of bronchial hyperreactivity and atopy with chromosome 1 lq13

There are two key clinical features of asthma: allergy and bronchial hyperreactivity (BHR). Some pedigree studies of atopy have indicated linkage with the high affinity IgE receptor (FceRI-P) gene on chromosome llq13, but others failed to confirm this linkage. We examined the genetic linkage of three polymorphic microsatellite markers to atopy and BHR in 120 affected sibling pairs recruited from the general community. We found no linkage to atopy at any of' the three llq13 loci studied. Our findings also do not favour linkage between BHR and loci approximately 8-9 cM either side of the FceRI-fi gene.

Chromosomal region 15q11-q13 has been implicated to harbor a susceptibility gene or genes underlying autism. Evidence has been derived from the existence of cytogenetic anomalies in this region associated with autism, and the report of linkage in a modest collection of multiplex families. Most recen

We present a 6-year-old girl with a balanced 11;20 translocation [46,XX,t(11;20)(q13.1; q13.13)patl, asplenia, pulmonic stenosis, Hirschsprung disease, minor anomalies, and mental retardation. This case represents the second report of an individual with situs abnormalities and a balanced chromosome
