β¦ Synopsis
We discuss possible linear magnetic dichroism effects in fluorescence radiation following photoionization by linearly polarized light in the inner shell of oriented andror aligned atoms. A general expression for the fluorescence dichroism is presented and analysed for particular kinematical conditions. Simple dynamical predictions are made for a particular case of LSJ-coupling.
