Polarized optical spectra of three planar low-spin ds complexes, Ni(detc),, NiCl(detc) (PPh,) and Pd(detc), (where detc is diethyldithiocarbamate and PPhl is triphenylphosphine), are reported. The assignments of the spectral transitions were made based on the d-level ordering xyzyz~x2-y2rxz~z2. The
