'Spike-wave stupor' was observed in a 58-year-old male patient with manic-depressive psychosis. Almost continuous atypical spike-wave activity was seen in conjunction with a stuporous episode with stereotyped automatism. Intravenous diazepam ended both the electroencephalographic epileptiform discha
