โฆ Synopsis
Possible crystal lattices of a layer of barrel-like C, molecules -barrelenes -covalently bound to each other are discussed: one rectangular (a= 5.7 A, b=6.3 A) and two hexagonal (a, =6.3 A or a2=5.7 A) which may differ in chemical activity of the layer surface. Thus data obtained under rapid compression by high-surface pressure monomolecular LB C, films are explained. We show that such layers placed one onto another may form a layered crystal. Doping of the interlayer space by metal atoms should change the conductivity of such a crystal, as occurs in the fullerides, but, in contrast to the latter, may cause high anisotropy of physical properties.
