## Abstract Polarized Raman spectra of BaCl~2~ · 2H~2~O and their assignments are reported. The Raman intensity was analysed by means of the pair approximation and the many‐body interaction among induced dipoles. It was found that the many‐body treatment is more quantitative than the pair approxima
