✦ Synopsis

The electronic absorption spectra of the (A^{3} \Pi_{1} \leftarrow X^{1} \Sigma^{+})system of iodine bromides ({ }^{79}{ }^{79} \mathrm{Br}) and ({ }^{81} \mathrm{Br}) species were investigated in the region from 11780 to (12500 \mathrm{~cm}^{-1}) using a (\mathrm{GaAs}) semiconductor laser and a titanium sapphire laser. The spectroscopic constants (v_{0}, B_{v f}^{\prime}, q_{v}^{\prime}, D_{v}^{\prime}), and (B_{v}^{\prime \prime}) for the (v=8^{\prime} \leftarrow 3^{\prime \prime}, 9^{\prime} \leftarrow 3^{\prime \prime}, 11^{\prime} \leftarrow 4^{\prime \prime}), and (12^{\prime} \leftarrow 4^{\prime \prime}) bands were determined. The (Q)-branch lines of the (v=7^{\prime} \leftarrow 3^{\prime \prime}, 4^{\prime} \leftarrow 4^{\prime \prime}, 5^{\prime} \leftarrow 4^{\prime \prime}, 10^{\prime} \leftarrow 4^{\prime \prime}, 6^{\prime} \leftarrow 5^{\prime \prime}, 7^{\prime} \leftarrow 5^{\prime \prime}, 13^{\prime} \leftarrow 5^{\prime \prime}), and (9^{\prime} \leftarrow 6^{\prime \prime}) bands were assigned and (\nu_{0}-B_{v f}^{\prime}, B_{v f}^{\prime},-B_{v}^{\prime \prime}), and (D_{v}^{\prime}-D_{v}^{\prime \prime}) were determined.
