✦ Synopsis

The Doppler-limited absorption spectrum of the vibrotational lines in the A 3 P 1u R X 1 S / g system of I 2 was measured in the region from 11,200 to 12,450 cm 01 using a Ti:sapphire ring laser. The Q-branch lines of J Å 10 to 100 belonging to the £ R £Љ Å (26 Ç 45) R 0Љ, (19 Ç 45) R 1Љ, (16 Ç 45) R 2Љ, (16 Ç 42) R 3Љ, and (22 Ç 31) R 4Љ progressions were assigned. The hyperfine splittings were observed at the vibrational states around the near-dissociation limit. The unperturbed line positions were obtained by first order approximation for the high-J rotational state. The values of

and H £ 0 HЉ £ were determined using a least-squares fitting procedure. The spectroscopic constants of T £ , B £ f , D £ f , and H £ f of £ Å 16 Ç 45 were calculated with the aid of the Dunham expansion parameters of the X state and were compared with those reported by D. R. T. Appadoo et al. (J. Chem. Phys. 104(3), 903 (1996)).

The \(v_{1}+3 v_{3}\) band system of natural acetylene has been recorded with Doppler-limited resolution using a titanium:sapphire ring laser together with a intracavity photoacoustic detection method. The \(v_{1}+3 \nu_{3}\) band appears by far as the strongest feature in the spectrum but there are

Optical-optical double resonance spectroscopy was used to study the 1 g ( 3 P 1 ) ion-pair state of I 2 correlating to I -( 1 S) + I + ( 3 P 1 ) at the dissociation limit. We gained access to the 1 g ( 3 P 1 ) state though the A 3 (1 u ) state in the (1 + 1) photon-excitation scheme. The pump laser
