โœฆ Synopsis

Absolute rate constants for the resctionsCl+ HX -HCI(u 2 0) + X have been determined at 295"K for X = Br and I by laser photolysis of Cl2 in flowing Clz/HX gas rnistures. The rate constants, (7.6 f 1.8) X lo-'* cm3 molecule-' src-1 for X = Br and (9.6 r 2.4) X lo-*' cm3 molecule-' sec-' for X = I, are of the same order of magnitude as the re-measured deactivation rate constant rbr Cl + HCl(u = 1). (7.6 f 3.0) X IO-'* cm3 molecule-' set-' _
