โœฆ Synopsis

The continuous absorption spectrum of molecular bromine has been examined using laser induced photodissociation spectroscopy. In this technique,_Brz molecules are photolyzed using a flashlamp-pumped dye laser; the atomic products of the dissociation arc then monitored by time-resolved resonance absorption spectroscopy in the vacuum ultraviolet. The rela-. tive absorptivities for the transitions B 3t&+u + X 'Xi and 1 II,, cm-'. 6X 'Zz have been obtained at 18350,210lO and 22125

A transient absorption spectrum has been observed in the pulsed CO2 laser photodissociation of CFzBrz. This has been assigned to the intermediate CFsBr radical. The spectrum shows a broad band in the region of 220-320 nm with a maximum around 260 nm. The absorption cross section of CFzBr at 262 nm a

Infrared photoisomerization of both trans-and cis-l.Z-dichioroethylene molecules sensitized by SF6 has been observed by using a CO2 laser. The direct infrared photoisomerization has also been observed for the trans molecule. The reaction rate of the sensitized photoisomerization increases by 6 times
