โœฆ Synopsis

Tbe laser-induced fluorescence excitation spectmm of the S,+& transition of jet-cooled chrysene is reported for the first time in the range 26500-29800 cm-l, together with experimentally recorded rovibronic band contours of six of the more active transitions in the spectrum. A preliminary analysis of vibronic features of the first excited singlet state is given, based primarily on ground state vibrational assignments together with comparison of the fluorescence spectra of other jet-cooled polycyclic benzenoid hydrocarbons. An intense progression in the out-of-plane buttefiyingmotion is observed. The weak transition at 26595 cm-' is assigned to the origin band in this molecule, which is shifted about 1000 cm-' to the red of the S, origin reported by others.

We have generated the p-chlorobenzyl radical in supersonic free expansion, and measured the laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) excitation spectra and LIF dispersed spectra from single vibronic levels (SVL). Based on an analysis of the dispersed spectra, we find the two band origins, spaced only 94 cm-

The high resolution, rotationally resolved laser induced fluorescence spectra for the A2A1 left and right arrow X2E transitions of CF3O and CF3S were recorded. In addition to the origins, the symmetric vibrational band 301 and the nontotally symmetric bands 501 and 601 were analyzed for CF3O, while

Fluorescence excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectra of jet-cooled 4-aminobenzonitrile are reported. These spectra are free from the low frequency transitions which complicate the spectra of the related molecule 4-N,Ndimethylaminobenzonitrile, and can be assigned in terms of fundamentals chara

The lowest excited singlet site of 9,10-dihydroanthracene has been studied by supersonic-jet laser spectroscopy. The spectrum consists of a number of prominent low-frequency vibronic bands near the O-O band followed by a structureless continuum. The low-frequency vibronic bands are nicely fitted wit
